Does your child have difficulty expressing what he is feeling?
When you talk to him/her about topics do that know how to tell you what they feel about that topic in particular?
Many children have a difficult time expressing what they are feeling, and they act on the emotions because they cant's articulate in words. This 5 scale chart can help you help your child begin to see and express how they feel, which in turn will give less grief.
Children in developing their emotional literacy. Children come in from a playtime they put their name where they feel they are at on the scale. Help them find ways to change how they feel (for example a deep breathing supersize) Children then have an opportunity to move their name down the scale if they are feeling calmer. If they are still feeling cross or angry then we make time to talk about this and look for solutions together. This is having a really positive impact on the children’s behavior and I will be continuing to use it in my sessions.
